Product Description

Features

  • Special designed thermal fuse combination provides both anti-surge & over temperature protection functions.
  • Excellent anti-surge characteristics up to 2KV according to IEC 61000-4-5.
  • Suitable for the application to soft short-circuit of a charger.
  • UL 1412 approved.

Product Positioning and Core Applications

The FKN-F series is a fusible wire wound resistor featuring a specially designed thermal fuse combination. The construction integrates resistance with anti-surge and over-temperature protection functions for electronic circuits requiring multiple protection characteristics within one component.

With a 2WS rated wattage and a resistance range of 1–20Ω, the FKN-F series is designed for applications where resistive loading needs to be combined with protection against abnormal temperature conditions and transient surge events. The product provides anti-surge characteristics up to 2KV according to IEC 61000-4-5 and is suitable for charger soft short-circuit protection.

The specified performance tests also cover temperature cycling, short-time overload, load life, and moisture-proof load life conditions.

2WS FKN-F High Temperature Fusible Resistor with Wire Wound Construction and Anti-Surge Protection

Applications

Charger Protection Circuits

The FKN-F series is suitable for charger soft short-circuit protection. It can be used in circuit positions where resistance needs to be combined with protection against abnormal temperature and transient surge conditions.

Surge Protection Circuits

For electronic circuits exposed to transient surge events, the FKN-F provides up to 2KV anti-surge characteristics according to the specified IEC 61000-4-5 test reference. This makes it suitable for use as a surge resistor in appropriate protection circuits.

Over-Temperature Protection Circuits

The FKN-F uses a specially designed thermal fuse combination for over-temperature protection. Its specified testing includes temperature conditions from -55°C to +160°C, supporting applications where abnormal temperature rise and temperature cycling need to be considered.

Electronic Power Protection Modules

For electronic power and protection modules, the FKN-F can be selected according to its 2WS rated wattage, 1–20Ω resistance range, and ±5% tolerance. It is suitable for circuits requiring a combination of wire wound resistance, fusing, and protection functions. Final selection should be based on the actual operating current, power conditions, ambient temperature, and circuit requirements.
